If there's one film that you must see at this year's festival, my pick would be this one. Leave it to Canadians to produce one of the hottest films in recent history. Think of it as Last Tango in Paris (Bernardo Bertolucci, 1973) for the next generation. This is Eyes Wide Shut - done properly.

Filmed in the vein of Wong Kar-Wei, with its shaky (but beautiful) camerawork, Lie With Me stars Eric Balfour (Gabriel in TV's "Six Feet Under") and Vancouverite Lauren Lee Smith, both of whom bare it all for the big screen. The film provides us with a raw and intimate portrayal of sex, love and where the two worlds intersect. The graphic content is likely to garner an NC-17 rating, if the film even gets released into mainstream theatres. If not, well you better check this out at the festival while you still have the chance! It's hot, heartbreaking, and the most honest film you are likely to see in your lifetime.
