Sunny Oh was born and raised in Toronto by Korean immigrant parents. In 2001 she moved to Vancouver, obtained a B.A. in English Literature at U.B.C., and started screenwriting. Her scripts were shortlisted for various competitions including CityTV's Out on Screen and the Korean Film Council's Filmmakers' Development Lab. After writing for the animated kids show Mixed Nutz (Big Bad Boo Studios), Sunny worked on a TV writing internship at the CBC during which she created family sitcom Donut Life which was considered for development. In fall 2009 Sunny will attend the TV writing program at the Canadian Film Centre. In her spare time, Sunny likes to travel, garden, cook, cycle, play dodgeball, and read about psychological disorders.
Pre-blogging jitters soothed by Pixar's suicidal story
I was ecstatic when I was admitted into the T.V. writing program at the Canadian Film Centre. In previous years, government agencies gave CFC attendees financial support ranging from $3,000 to $15,000. However this year, because of government cutbacks, the funding available is exactly zero.
My goal is to raise $5,000 by Sept. 30, through small donations from friends and family. The money would cover FIVE months of very humble living expenses in Toronto. I know times are really tight. So I'm not looking for large contributions, but little contributions from the heart.
As a thank you, I am writing a scene from my script The Midnight Gardener for every $50 donated. Think of it as helping to write a story that would not ever get told without your support. You can read it here. Once again, thank you for all your love and support,
Sunny Oh
