Ladytron, CSS review/pics

So someone tell me how the hell a DJ (even DJ F'in Shadow) can command over $50 to play records and MP3s where as you can see 2 wicked full live bands for $34.20? Yeah, yeah, the Shadow show is over and done and no, I dont actually regret not going (almost) but this show blew any memory of not going to that off the gate. Simply put, Ladytron was one of the best bands I have ever now seen.
I actually only caught the last 2 songs of CSS's set but they didnt sound as good as they did back when they came with Diplo and Bonde Do Role at Celebs back in August. That CSS frontwoman Lovefoxx (chick in the pic, with striped shirt) is always a crazy ass character but the band sounded kinda flat (or did they just not have the amps cranked up enough)? This just might be the beginning for the Sao Paulo natives and (former Nirvana label) Sub Pop's first international signing though.
At any rate, Ladytron's set was not only one of the best sets Ive seen, it was probably the most technically proficiently sound as well, thanks on the part of their sound people and the Liverpool based band. While the band's rock/electro sound combo was tight and of course, edgier and more abrasive than on record, it was the fact that you could still hear lead vocalist, Helen Marnie's haunting voice, crystal clear. And she sounded that so amazing.
The 4 person crew, with roots in Scotland (Helen Marnie), Bulgaria(Mira Arroyo, who also provides vocals in Bulgarian), England (Daniel Hunt) and Hong Kong (Reuben Wu), arent much for stage antics (like the manic stage diving Lovefoxx) but it fits well with their dark, cool vibe though Marnie has just enough presense for a front-person. Probably a good thing for the James Iha like Wu as well as the 2 girls held center stage down trading both vocals and synth work.
And while the band was acclaimed for raising their substance over their much talked about style with their current record, the Witching Hour, their show is def a great example of style AND substance as one entity.
(all my CSS pics, aside from the one with the Foxx, turned out like shit but behold these Ladytron pics below!)
