CHINESE RESTAURANTS: a documentary series about family, strength & spring rolls



Any country, any city, and you’ll find a Chinese restaurant. Even Amman, Jordan has a “Shwarma Wok” in its midst! No doubt, there’s an interesting story behind the Chinese family who opened it. We are invited to learn more about families like these in CHINESE RESTAURANTS, a documentary series about the Chinese diaspora and one of its most recognizable and enduring icons: the family-run Chinese restaurant. CHINESE RESTAURANTS will be shown from May 8-11 @ Pacific Cinémathèque.

Awarded the Special Jury Prize at this year’s San Francisco Asian American Film Festival, CHINESE RESTAURANTS' Hong Kong-born, Toronto-based director Cheuk Kwan and Cinematographer Kwoi Gin will be on hand on May 8th and 9th for a Q&A session after the screenings. CHINESE RESTAURANT screenings:
