Direct Current Media in Brazil with Mos Def, Venezuela with Dead Prez & Hugo Chavez!

Direct Current Media, the media-based social project led by Sol Guy - the man behind the Rascalz, K-os and now most recently, K'naan - has updated their website to feature their recent trip to Brazil with the one and only, Mos Def and Venezuela with hip hop Marxists, Dead Prez.  Of course, no lefties' trip to Venezuela would be complete without a little Hugo Chavez in the mix.

The new Dancehall/Hip Hop, Latin Caribbean steelo - Reggaeton

This year saw the emergence of the Latin Caribean spin-off of Dancehall reggae, led by Daddy Yankee's Gasolina, which could heard bumpin from automobiles and clubs from Montreal, NYC to Puerto Rico. Read more here:

CBC Television Personalities and Programs Win Four Special Gemini Awards

An NFB production first broadcast in Canada by CBC Newsworlds Rough Cuts, the documentary Two Worlds Colliding is the recipient of this years Canada Award. Created and sponsored by the Multiculturalism Program of the Department of Canadian Heritage since 1988, the Canada Award honours excellence in mainstream television programming that reflects the racial and cultural diversity of Canada. A re-broadcast of Two Worlds Colliding is scheduled for November 30 on Rough Cuts at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. on CBC Newsworld.
