Carnival... in Vancouver?
The idea of Carnival is kinda like the idea of chocolate, how can anyone say no to it? I sure have a hard time resisting heaping servings of gyrating, ridiculously but barely dressed people going bonkers to hot latin music.
Word on the street is that Electropical is trying to throw down a costume/masquerade Carnival party in Vancouver.
It will be in a club, so not quite the same. But hey, cheaper then a flight to Brazil.
Full party invite info after the jump
A note from the party organizers
Hello everyone.
Carnival is coming up fast in Brazil and the Caribbean, so DJs Marc Fournier and
Michael Laycock are cooking up a special Electropical for Saturday, February 5
to kick off the annual festival.
To start, this edition of Electropical will be a costume/masquerade party.
Simply don a mask or go with head-to-toe Carnival garb. But keep it light -- the
dance floor at Jesters can be as warm as the equator...
For costume inspiration, check out some Carnival photos at:
For background on Carnival in Brazil and the Caribbean, check out:
As usual, we'll take you on a global musical tour, but the music of Brazil and
the Caribbean will take the spotlight.
In addition to the hotspots of Carnival, Electropical touches down in Africa,
the Middle East, India and beyond. Samba soul, bossa nova, Brazilian hip-hop,
Afrobeat, salsa, dub, bhangra -- you'll hear it all and more.
Get down to the grooves under the stately palm trees in Jesters's downstairs
taproom. Chat, chill and enjoy fine food and drink upstairs in the warm,
spacious, high-ceilinged lounge.

Jesters
608 Dunsmuir Street
Vancouver
Jesters is located on Dunsmuir between Granville & Seymour in the St. Regis
Hotel, less than a block from the Granville SkyTrain station. There are plenty
of parking options along Seymour & Georgia. But please groove safely -- take a
cab or bus home if you'll be drinking.
Cheers,
Michael & Marc
