Vancouver's first Brazilian Jujitsu black belt: Denis Kang
Alden writes:
"Vancouver's own Korean-French Canadian kicks American ass in 17
seconds! Yes, after seven dedicated (and obsessive) years, he's
received his black belt - the FIRST Vancouver black belt in the
ever-popular Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The son of a Korean-French immigrants from St. Pierre of Mequeleon, his passion began with Hapkido.
If you need something different from all the all the motion picture special affects (or you're looking for some Asian-hapa eye-candy), check out the real thing. Man, this guy must have some great "he called me a chink/half-breed so
I kicked his ass" stories! His bio reads "He enjoys relaxing." Oh my
god, who wrote this? He's a submission and violence master. I were
Kang, I'd enjoy - KICKIN ASS!"
Well said Alden!

Why is the alphabet in that order? Is it because of that song?

If you're not familiar with Brazilian Jujitsu, its the style that the Gracie family from Brazil made famous from the jujitsu brought from Japan to Brazil in the early 1900's. Judo and aikido also stem from jujitsu. It is like a more ground and submission lock/hold oriented version of judo.
Royce Gracie brought it to it international spotlight when he entered and dominated the early Ulitimate Fighting Championships against opponents up to 80lbs bigger than him and from styles which were thought to be the more dangerous of effective: Kickboxing, kartate, etc.
Kang's instructors, Marcus Soares came to Vancouver from Brazil a little over 7 years ago and was a student of one of the most notable Gracie family members himself: Carlson Gracie. Carlson Gracie has perhaps produced the best BJJ and also MMA (UFC style competitors) fighters ever.
Kang has also been competiting in professional MMA for some years and has beaten his share of world class competitors. He was supposed to fight a top ranked Russian fighter in Russia last weekend but the opponent got injured and was replaced by a lesser known, whom he beat, btw.
Many people on MMA forums have been calling for a UFC shot for Denis.
