VIWF 2009: The Tightrope & Building Blocks

This year's Vancouver International Writer's Festival is bound to thrill literary fans with the array of authors and events that are lined up. There are two events that I'm quite excited about and urge you to check them out. They are Event 37 The Tightrope and Event 42 Building Blocks, Starting Blocks!

The Tightrope features three authors that do not restrain themselves to conventional approaches in fiction writing. BC author Michael Turner, Marie-Claire Blais and Leon Rooke challenge the fundamentals of writing fiction, where they have pushed the fictional envelope to exuberant limits. Tickets for this event will be available for purchase at the door an hour before the event starts.

Building Blocks, Starting Blocks is an insider's look at how some of Canada's most established literary writers assemble essential elements of fiction in creative works of written art. Joseph Boyden, Shandi Mitchell, Cordelia Strube and Ian Weir talk about their beginnings, the struggles they have had to deal with, the moment when everything fell in place, and all the things in between. Tickets for this event will be available for purchase at the door an hour before the event starts.
