The team at Schema Magazine would like to extend a big thank you to all of you who came out on September 23, to our first ever iWriteAboutMe.com web writing workshop, which featured blog superstar Phil Yu, aka. Angry Asian Man. It was a great success because of your presence and participation!

For those of you who were not able to make it out, don't worry, I'll fill you in right now.

Phil Yu, also affectionately known as the Angry Asian Man, has become one of the key Internet voices on racial and ethnic issues. Through his blog, he posts news, commentary and perspective on everything Asian-related in mainstream media. We at Schema Magazine were particularly interested in Phil as a huge ethnic-cool-maker and had some burning questions for the veteran blogger and online activist.

Via Skype from his home in LA, Phil shared his story, talked about his daily writing routine, discussed his blog and answered questions from an audience of cultural navigators, fanatic bloggers, UBC and SFU students and other eager beavers. When asked what his #1 tip for blog writing success was, he responded in saying, "1. Write about something you are passionate about. 2. Don't do this for the money. And 3. You have to write everyday." He continued in saying that it didn't matter whether you wrote a lot or very little. Explaining that nothing is more important than having the discipline to write consistently. Great advice for anyone wanting to start blogging.

Coming NOV 4, HK-based director Jennifer Thym will be sharing her experience of creating LUMINA, an original nine part web series characterized as a dark, densely woven fantasy set against the sparkling backdrop of Hong Kong, starring JuJu Chan, Michael Chan and Vince Matthew Chung.
