Fresh Face | The Saturdays
The U.K. has brought the world some of the best pop acts - S Club 7, the Spice Girls, oh right, and the Beatles too. Now, all-girl group THE SATURDAYS is ready to have their turn in the spotlight.
The Saturdays is made up of Una Healy, Mollie King, Frankie Sanford, Rochelle Wiseman, and Vanessa White. The women range from ages 19-27, and both Frankie and Rochelle were once apart of the less-popular S Club 7 spin-off, S Club 8.
The pure-pop group released their debut single, "If This Is Love," earlier this year, and the single quickly shot to the No. 8 spot on the Official U.K. Top 40 within a week of its release. Their second single, "Up," is set to officially debut on October 27, coinciding with the release of their debut album, Chasing Lights, on Polydor, Fascination Records.
The Saturdays' early success is credited to the fact that they are sticking to a single sound of pure, upbeat pop, powerful vocals and solid harmonies. "How would we describe The Saturdays sound? It's pop," says Frankie. "We're not trying to do anything else. We're a pop group and proud of it."
Take a listen to The Saturdays (below the cut) and watch them burn up North American pop charts later this year!
