Those that spent their Friday nights watching Canadian teen music video countdown show The Hit List during the late '90s might remember a cute duo girl group called M2M. Almost a decade later and half of that group is still making a name for herself in Europe's folk-pop scene.
While MARIT LARSEN is only 25-years-young, the Norwegian native has made a name for herself as an accomplished solo singer and songwriter since her 2006 debut Under the Surface. Later this month, on October 13, Marit Larsen will be releasing her follow-up album, The Chase, to much anticipation.
Marit Larsen's songs are nothing but sweet and easy-sounding folk-pop. Her runaway single "Don't Save Me" is upbeat and catchy, her pleasantly-piercing vocals a perfect match for pop. Other singles off of Marit Larsen's first album that topped the Norwegian music charts included the title track, "Under the Surface," "Only a Fool," and "Solid Ground." The album also won Marit Larsen the 2006 MTV Europe Music Award for Best Norwegian Act.
On the brink of releasing her sophomore effort, Marit Larsen has leaked the album's first single, "If a Song Could Get Me You." The single has a lovable throwback pop vibe to it and definitely builds anticipation to hear the rest of her album.
Take a listen to Marit Larsen's happily contagious pop (under the cut)!
