Ah weddings, that holy bastion of tradition where two destined lovers meet to speak vows of everlasting love for each other in front of their most cherished loved ones. Or, something like that. In reality, weddings are costly affairs, creating as much stress as debt; some might say that the whole ordeal is not worth it and shun getting hitched altogether. However, the Church of Sweden has an alternative solution: the SWEDISH DRIVE-THRU WEDDING.

A drive-thru wedding works exactly how it sounds. You drive up with your beloved, spit a few lines while the priest leans out the drive-thru window, and bam! you are forever husband and wife.

Thirty-six couples have signed up for this unique event, which the Church defends as a way to "make things simpler and more down to earth when people take the plunge and get married."

Of course, the concept of drive-thru weddings is nothing new; Las Vegas has offered the same thing for years. However, it is very unusual for an actual church to endorse such a thing, but the Church of Sweden is considered the most liberal church in Europe. It even endorses democratic church elections of its leaders and was the first major church to allow gay marriage.

Now if only they could offer 2-for-1 coupons...
