It's a toss up. Can't decide which video/song/girl-pop group is more saccharine: Japan's HINOI TEAM's "Night on Fire" (here) or Korea's WONDERGIRLS' "Tell Me" (here). Oh, it's so close...cavities are already beginning to sprout at the root of the tooth canal.
The Hinoi Team's song "Night of Fire" was a popular (egads) Eurobeat track from 2005, the third single for this 4-girl J-Pop group who also have a song out called "Sticky Tricky and Bang!" (...) -- what a gift! The "Night on Fire" video features comedian-wrestler Korikki Choshu and said girls dancing para-para style in bright hues while singing such choice lyrics as: "My boyfriend's excited and can't sit still. Whenever we see each other, we just hug and act like friends. How about more? How about not hiding anything? Even if you're nervous, it doesn't matter what happens to love. It's okay to do it in one take. I'm all right, I won't hesitate. Night on Fire ..."
Then there's Wondergirls, a 5-girl K-Pop group, whose 2007 song "Tell Me" samples Stacey Q's "Two of Hearts." The video features one of the Wondergirls transforming into Wonderwoman (hee) whenever "evil" lurks. The bouncy dance moves performed in the video were imitated -- because, come on, who wouldn't?! -- and classic lines were karaoked (can it be used as a verb? -- whatevs) such as: "I didn't know you like me. I feel so good. Oh so good. I thought it was a dream. Maybe I should pinch my cheeks, I just feel so good...Tell me tell me, tetetetete tell me that you love me, that you waited for me..."
Can't decide whether the Hinoi Team's angry-wrestler guy trumps the Wondergirls' locker-room flasher? Thoughts?
