Bloody Immigrants | CBC | Digital Sketch Comedy Series
Er, they said it, not me.
They are Toronto producer Bobby Brown (not to confused with "Don't Be Cruel" Bobby Brown) and comic Ali Rizvi, who've recently collaborated on an online digital sketch comedy series for the CBC called BLOODY IMMIGRANTS. In addition to Rizvi, the series also features comedian and Toronto radio personality Frank "Trixx" Agyemang.
Bloody Immigrants features several 3-minute episodes which are being described as a culturally diverse version of Kids in the Hall. As Brown puts it, ""we all have those uncles and aunts and relatives and quirks that we make fun of on a daily basis. The goal here is not to make fun of other people, it's to make fun of ourselves."
Not that there's anything wrong with making fun of other people...

The series also represents a new digital programming strategy at the CBC wherein episodes will be piloted online (on CBC and Youtube) to see how audiences respond. "Getting air time on conventional TV is really difficult," says Val Boser, Executive Director of CBC Television in Toronto, "So if we can draw viewers to the web, that's the perfect place to test market the shows."
