Although summer may have come to an end in many people's mind after this past Labour Day weekend (it may not even have gotten started in the minds of other Vancouverites), fear not Vancity heads, there are still a lot of stuff going on: The Victory Square Block Party went down on Sep. 3rd; the Cinematheque Film Noir fest ends on Sep. 5th; the New Forms Festival is Sep. 6 - 15, the 2nd annual Livestock Block Party (covering 2 blocks this year!) goes down this coming Sunday, Sep. 9th and then the VIFF (Vancouver International Film Festival) and VAFF (Vancouver Asian Film Festival) take place in late September and early November respectively.

This week however, starting on Wednesday, Sept 5th thru Sept 12th, the spotlight is on The 5th Annual Vancouver Latin American Film Festival. This year's lineup features a big chunk of flicks from Argentina as well as other movies from Mexico, Canada, Cuba, Peru, Brazil, Colombia and Chile.
