Persepolis | graphic novel about a girlhood in Iran

Persepolis sounds like it was such a romantic city of riches where the wealthy dripped in jewels while the heroic Persian army protected them....okay, this sounds too much like 300.

The flip-side of such a romantic picture of the historic city is shown in PERSEPOLIS, a graphic novel by Marjane Satrapi that describes her childhood in Iran after the revolution. Simply drawn in black and white, there are now 4 graphic novels in the series; the first Persepolis was included in Time Magazine's Best Comix of 2003 list. Not only that, those who prefer celluloid can rejoice in PERSEPOLIS the film (Catherine Deneuve voices one of the characters), which won the Prize of Jury at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival.
