Cinco de Mayo | May 5 = tequila, tequila, tequila
En Espanol CINCO DE MAYO literally means "The Fifth of May" and on this national holiday of Mexico, tequila lovers (et al) unite to commemorate the victory of Mexican forces led by General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguin over the French forces in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862 (learn more here).
All in all, CINCO DE MAYO celebrations combine food, drink, music and dancing...you'll find plenty of events in your area...but if you live in Vancouver, you can check a list of Cinco de Mayo club events around the city HERE; or a BC Liquor-sponsored (belated) Cinco de Mayo festival with free Corona samples on May 12 (Info HERE); or a free Vancouver Farmer's Market Cinco de Mayo concert this Saturday, May 5 (Info HERE); or Salsa Vancouver's Cinco de Mayo (info HERE).
