8TH Annual Comedy Night : ETCH-YOUR-SKETCH SKETCHOFF!#$%!! | May 18-19, 2007
With group names such as Slant Eyed Peas, Lick the Wax Tadpole, SFUU Man Chu, The Yangtzers, Bananadrama, and Disoriental, 6 groups of Asian Canadian performers and writers will gather, perform and compete at VACT's 8th Annual Asian Comedy Night : SKETCHOFF!#$%!! Etch-YOUR-Sketch at the Roundhouse Theatre on May 18 and 19.

May 18 & 19, 2007 | 8:00 nightly
At the Roundhouse Performance Centre
Tix: $12 in advance in person at the Roundhouse Theatre (604.713.1800),
OR online on www.vact.ca; $15 cash at the door
After Party tix: $8 in advance, $12 at door. Both nights & After-Party! : $30 in advance. ( * includes one alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink and finger food. Venue TBA)
All groups have 2 weeks to write and rehearse at least 2 sketches, one of which must incorporate a creative element provided by VACT that each team will choose at random.
Through this 2-week process, groups will have access to comedy consultants to help during this tight timeframe.
On May 18, each group will be given a 6-10 minute set to perform their sketches in front of a live audience, where a panel of celebrity judges will select the top 3 groups. The winner will win the coveted Vancouver Rice Bowl (May 18).
On May 19, the audience will be the judges, and the winner will take home the People's Choys Award (May 19).
SKETCHOFF!#$%!! has been a sold-out event every year and the annual show has provided a rare showcase for various Asian stand-up comedians and sketch groups from all over Canada and the US. As a developer of new talent, VACT had previously incubated such successful local Asian-Canadian sketch comedy troupes as HOT SAUCE POSSE and ASSAULTED FISH.
