Diversity in the Work Place: A Case Study
I presented a case study of the aboriginal employees at CBC, and facilitated a workshop that looked at: 1. The impact of poor retention and 2. What could be done to correct retention challenges. I then provided some insight to what initiatives were undertaken by CBC to address retention issues specific to aboriginal employees.
Synopsis (from conference program)
CBC/Radio-Canada is Canada's national public broadcaster and one of this country's largest cultural institutions. Through the delivery of a comprehensive range of radio, television, Internet, and satellite-based services, CBC/Radio-Canada bring diverse regional and cultural perspectives into the daily lives of Canadians in English, French and eight aboriginal languages, in seven languages on our international Radio service, RCI, and in seven languages through our web-based radio service RCI viva, a service for recent and aspiring immigrants to Canada.
The case study will offer a practical example of retention challenges within a diverse work group, and offer participants an opportunity to brainstorm thoughts on their ideas of possible solutions.
This workshop is a great opportunity for members of the community interested in a practical dialogue about recruitment and retention challenges in the workplace or other team dynamics.
