Position Summary
Schema Magazine is seeking a talented and self-motivated graphic and/or web design intern to join our young, dynamic & diverse team of 1.5, 2nd and 3rd generation, interculturally-minded Canadians for a four-month period.
Reporting to the Creative Director and Marketing team, you will be working on a variety of design projects to support the Marketing & Events department. The ideal candidate will be someone who is a team player and is not afraid to take risks and take initiative by adding their own creative twist to the projects that they are assigned.
Given that Schema is an online magazine, the majority of projects will be web-based. However, there will be need for print-based materials as well. Experience in both print and web is preferred.
This design internship will offer the ideal candidate a chance to gain experience and build their portfolio through a variety of projects, from designing web banners and ads, to assisting with web design and layout, to developing printed posters, business cards and flyers.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, positive individual who is:
Term: February to May (4 months)
Commitment: 5-10 hours per week

Supporting the Co-Editor in Chief for Schema Magazine's Daily Dose, the Daily Dose Researcher is responsible for "coolhunting" and scouring external websites and building relationships with bloggers from other sites to seek articles, events, and tidbits that would be suitable to be included on Schema's Daily Dose of Ethnic Cool.

Travel - International: This section contains travel writing from the perspectives of cultural navigators. For example, articles may explore questions such as: how does roaming the world as a member of a minority community affect your travel experiences? Do your adventures change how you see your own cultural identity? 800-1000 words.
Travel - 48 Hours (in rural Canada): This section explores travel in remote or rural areas, places off the beaten track that may surprise our readers with their diversity of culture and experiences. Essentially, Travel-48 Hours is the ethnic cool-hunter's guide to life outside the big city. This is a personalized literary journalism--a 48-hour travelogue that explores the cultural diversity of smaller cities and towns in Canada. 800-1000 words.
