People to Watch - Profiles Editor
Position Summary
Reporting to the Co-Editor in Chief and Managing Editor, the Profiles Section Editor oversees the content of the People to Watch (Profiles) section of Schema Magazine Features.
About the Section
People to Watch: In this section, we interview and profile a up-and-coming cultural navigator--for example, a politician, artist, designer or actor--whose work influences the mainstream. 800-1000 words
Roles & Responsibilities
- Working with the editorial team, brainstorm and determine story ideas for People to Watch (published 4 times a year)
- Ensure that Profiles section has content ready for each production
deadline; write or delegate and edit the writing of content for People
to Watch - Responsible for ensuring that there are complementary
images for each People to Watch article, and working with the Creative
Director to produce this when necessary
Qualifications
- Journalism or English background
- Strong editing skills
- Strong writing skills with an interesting and engaging flair
- Experience in interviewing and writing profiles
- Ability to make deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills; team-player
- Interest and/or familiarity with Canada's multicultural issues, the Canadian identity, and the concept of ethnic cool
